Match report 26/04/2014

Unicol C Black 4 (Jeremy Watts, Tyler Mapstone, Rene Jekel, Robbie Hammond) - Melville C2 1

Once again Unicol had a slow start as they struggled to get into the game. After about 15 minutes the team started to get into a better rhythm. Jeremy Watts capitalized on a defense blunder to give Unicol the lead. When the half time whistle went Unicol were up 1 - 0.

Unicol again started the 2nd half slow and let in a goal to bring the scores level. The goal was a well worked goal from a young Melville team who were determined to show Unicol their speed and quick 1-2's.

The response from Unicol was immediate as Tyler Mapstone hit a wonderful cross from Manonpagna Chin first time into the far top corner. This goal effectively sealed the deal as Unicol pressed their dominance home with further goals to Rene Jekel and Robbie Hammond.

Stand out players were:

Carl Goddard - controlled the midfield well, shutting down Melville's danger player. Tyler Mapstone - score the pivotal goal and ran tirelessly on the wing.

Player of the day: Matt Curtis who made a fantastic diving save to tip the ball over the goal at a time where Melville were applying immense pressure. Matt's goal kicks were also excellent and allowed the players to counter attack quickly.
